Day 12: Break the Plateau
Thursday, January 28, 2010
Day 11: Half way there
This post is full of pictures so get ready!
Today I started taking the drops again after being off of them for 4 days due to my period. I was glad to start them up again because I did feel more hungry when not taking them. If this happens to you, you could stop the drops just for day 1 and 2 of your period then get back on them for the last few days. My weight this morning was 132 pounds, for a total loss of 9 pounds in 10 days. Lately it seems like I have a day where I don't lose, then the next day I lose 1 pound. Every other day is like a plateau for me.
9:10 AM -drops
10 AM- Starbucks coffee with liquid vanilla stevia.
12:30 PM - more coffee (it was snowing, what better to drink)
1:30 PM - McCalister's Deli, I ordered the grilled chicken salad, no cheese, bacon, or croutons (it only had lettuce, cucumber, and chicken.) I didn't put any dressing on it, just salt and pepper. I had a large iced tea also.2:30 -drops
6:15 PM- drops
6:45 PM- 96/4 lean ground beef patty with soy sauce, mushrooms and onions in the same pan, steamed (then pan cooked) asparagus with seasoning, 2 melba toast rounds
8:30 PM - 6 strawberries cut into small pieces
Here's what my dinner plate looked like.....
And here is my husband's plate... we cooked together just in seperate pans and both seasoned ours how we like it, just wanted to show everyone how you can still cook for a spouse or others just modify yours to fit your plan. I know a lot of people were worried about that.
It was time for me to get back to the grocery store to stock back up on all my foods. I had got away from cooking at home and that was getting hard so I was ready to start back. Here is what I got for the next week and a half:
- 96/4 lean ground beef
- chicken breast
- frozen cooked shrimp, large size
- 3 eye of round steaks, thin enough to pan cook
- 1 bison steak (buffalo is a really lean meat, great for you too!)
- fresh asparagus
- 2 zucchini
- mushrooms, fresh, sliced and packaged
- 2 apples
- 2 oranges
- 2 grapefruit
- strawberries
- steamer bags..... Pictures below
I am pretty excited to try this bison steak. It has fewer calories than other steak cuts and it looks really good.
Here are a few of my favorite meals I have had so far on this diet:
- lean ground beef patty with mushrooms and onions
- shrimp and asparagus
- shrimp, broccoli, and lemon juice all cooked in a steamer bag
- lobster tail
- scallops with organic soy sauce
I only have 12 days left on the HCG and the time really has flown by. My second week on the diet I have definently lost weight slower than the first week which makes sense. If you get to a point in the last week that you are not losing anymore, your body might just be at it's limit for the time being. If that happens it is good to finish the diet, stay off for 3 weeks, then go back on for another 23 days and you will see more losses! Good luck to all my friends and family who are starting HCG this week. You can do it!
Day 10: Apples, Apples, Apples
I woke up this morning feeling a little bloated, so I was not very excited about getting on the scale. I wasn't feeling a loss coming on. I weighed and was 133 lbs again, I hit my first small plateau. Not a big deal, plateaus are totally normal and you will probably get to one during the 23 days. It was really hard for me to get all my water in over the weekend so I think that affected me some. Be sure and get ALL your water in every day, I do about 70-80 oz a day. Another reason for my plateau could have been the fact that I didn't have good control of my dinner. I went to Market Street in hopes of having grilled chicken and broccoli but when I looked at them they were covered in butter or oil so I passed. We were then hungry and trying to think of something to eat so we went to Cattle Baron. They have a big salad bar so at least that would be good for me.
Today I decided to have an "apple day" because that is a good way to break a plateau and I also didn't really have time to cook and plan my meals for the day so this was an easy thing to do. On apple day you have 6 apples and all the coffee, tea, and water you want.
My day
- 10 AM Peet's Southern Pecan Coffee (in market street)
- 10:45 AM Small Gala apple
- 3 PM Pink Lady apple
- 7:30 PM Fuji apple
I was getting so full by this point that I don't know if I can eat any more apples. It is important to get all 6 apples in or your body might not want to let go of weight. For my last 3 apples, I cut them up into small pieces, skin and all, and put them in the blender to make applesauce. It was really good, but I seriously couldn't eat anymore at this point. I was stuffed.
*TIP* It is recommended that after taking the drops for 7 days, you take one day off of them so that your body doesn't get used to them where they stop working.
I finally found the flavored Stevia at Market Street and it is AMAZING. It is located in the whole foods/organic section (Burts Bees will be over there) and they have several flavors. I bought vanilla cream and put it in my coffee. It sweetens better than the stevia packets I think. They also have chocolate raspberry, lemon drop, peppermint, & cinnamon. I want to try the lemon drop in iced tea. I'll let you know!

Day 8- Short, sweet and to the point!
Corrections!!!
1) When you are on your period, do not take the HCG drops until your cycle is over. HCG will already be present in your body at the time of your period so it is not necessary.
2) When still on the 23 day plan, if you decide to have a steak day or mini steak day as described in maintanence, your steak will still need to be 3.5 oz and only have the apple with your lunch and have a tomatoe with your steak dinner!
That's all for no, Thanks!

Day 7- The one week mark
Wow, I can't believe one week has already gone by since I started the HCG diet. I feel great, have had awesome energy, and only felt hungry for one meal, but after eating I was satisfied.
I woke up this morning and the scale said 136lbs! Holy cow, 5 pounds in just 1 week, which technically the first week is 2 days short because of loading days. I can't wait to see what happens in the next 2 weeks. I am hoping for at least 10 more pounds, but I would definently take more. I did start my women cycle today so I will be curious to see if it affects my weight loss at all. I might retain more water, but I'm hoping to still see a loss. Don't get discouraged if this happens to you. You will lose!
My Eating Day
8:00 AM- drops
9:00 AM- McDonald's coffee with Stevia (I loved it, I finished a whole large cup)
11:30 AM - More coffee at church, I think all the coffee contributed to me being so full all day
12:30 PM - drops
1:00 PM - We went to Outback Steakhouse for lunch. How is it possible to diet and eat out so much you ask??? First of all you order smart, second of all be specific, and third be prepared. I made sure to ask my waitor how things were prepared, if the items were cooked with oil or butter, etc... he didn't mind at all. We have to remember at restaurants, they are there to help you and it's ok to ask questions and have your food exactly how you want it. I ordered steamed lobster tails 2 (no dipping butter needed) steamed broccoli, and a side salad with a bowl of lemons to squeeze on the salad. I felt like non-dieting human being. It's about making smart decisions people. I wasn't able to actually weigh out my meat, that is the downside to eating out, but I could eyeball about how much meat 3.5 oz should be. It should fit in the palm of your hand.
7:00 PM - drops
Day 6- The weekend struggle
Sorry I didn't get around to writing this post last night like I usually do, but we were babysitting the coolest 2 year old and by the time she went home it was time for bed. In these next few posts, I will be telling you how you can still go out to eat at resaurants and feel like a normal person while still on HCG. It takes a lot of will power to not sample what others are eating but it wasn't too hard for me. Here's how my day went:
8:55 AM- drops
10:30 AM - coffee with stevia
*I was really feeling a sweets craving this morning, especially when I walked down to Starbucks for my coffee and the Old fashioned doughnut was staring me right in the face. I resisted!
1:30 PM- LUNCH This is the first time I had beef for a meal. It was AWESOME! I made a 96/4 lean beef patty (3.5 oz) and cooked it in a pan with seasonings then a touch of soy sauce, muchrooms cooked along with the patty, and asparagus (steamed in the microwave, then pan cooked with seasoning) 2 malba toast rounds
2:40 PM - HCG drops #2
*remember to take your B-12, magnesium, and potassium. I take mine in the morning, then take B-12 a few times throughout the day to maintain energy.
3:30 PM- 1/2 grapefruit
*Feeling very happy, energetic, and encouraged today. Drink PLENTY of water.
(One thing that is bothering me is that you are not supposed to use lotion on HCG, my skin is feeling very dry, aloe vera is something you can use for this problem.)
6:45 PM- drops #3
7:30 PM - Dinner (we went out to Chilis) I know what your thinking??? How the heck do you eat an HCG approved meal at Chilis??? Let me tell ya... I split chicken fajitas with my husband, While he had the tortillas, cheese, and sour cream, my meal consisted of chicken meat, green pepper, and onion, I also dipped in salsa. I watched as the rest of my talble ate chips and I did not touch even one! Go me! I also had steamed broccoli. I was so full and enjoyed a fun night out with friends. Drank a lot of water at dinner too. So the hardest part of my dinner was turning down this LOVELY BEAUTY while everyone else shared....
Molten Chocolate Cake
But I did it and I love myself for it.
After dinner I had an apple and 2 melba toast rounds.
Calories for the day
3.5 oz beef patty - 133 calories
asparagus - 20 calories
mushrooms (about 5 small) - 6 calories
melba toast - 25 calories
1/2 grapefruit - 60 calories
grilled chicken- 108 calories
broccoli - 20 calories
onion/pepper - 10 calories
apple- 45 calories
melba toast - 25 calories
For a total of..... about 454 calories *try and use up your extra calories with veggies, sometimes I think I underestimate the amount of calories in veggies so it's probably closer to 500.
FYI... Although I know you probably don't want to know everything, I feel it is my duty to inform you on all there is about HCG. I want you to realize what effects on your body are normal. The food you eat while on HCG are basically all natural foods so your body uses this time as a cleanse also. Your body will flush out all the chemicals and un-natural things in it, this does include cleansing your colon as well. It will be normal for more frequent bowels. Sorry, just had to get that out there.
Quote for the day...
"When you get to a plateau, think of it as a landing on the stairway to your goal. And maintenance is a lifelong plateau, so a bit of "rehearsal" for maintenance isn't the worst thing in the world. "
I haven't reached a plateau yet, but I don't rule out that one could be right around the corner. I will be posting plateau breakers soon, but if you have already reached a plateau comment on here and I will post them ASAP!!! Have wonderful day!
Until tomorrow....

Exciting News!!!
I still feel great, have awesome energy, never hungry, and loving my body. It has been WAY too long since I have been able to say I actually love myself, but I finally feel like my body and me are going to get along. I will keep up the dedication and can't wait to lose more on the scale.
Sit back and think about who you want to be, how you want to feel, and know that you can do it!
Remember summer's coming up, and you know what that means....swimsuits! AHHH!!! Can't say that I'm ready for that just yet, but I will be! I did take some before pictures of myself (in a swimsuit) but I just couldn't bring meself to share those yet. That's a really hard thing to do. I am hoping by the end of this journey I will be proud to post before and afters just to show you how amazing this is!
I will be doing my food journal blog later this evening, I just had to share this for now! I can't wait to do measurements, those coming Monday!!! Get ready for some inches lost!!! Please share with me your success, your losses, and dropped clothing sizes. I want to get excited with you!!!

Day 5
- 8:40 AM HCG drops
- drank water, I didn't feel like having coffee or tea this morning, and I did end up feeling more hungry than usual
- 12:30 PM HCG drops #2
- 1:00 PM Jessica from work brought me my lunch today (she is on HCG also, she has lost 9.5 so far in 2 weeks, way to go) she made grilled chicken with soy sauce and awesome seasonings, grilled asparagus, 2 saltine crackers for 30 calories, and 1/2 a grapefruit. Delicious! I think the asparagus has been my favorite veggie so far.
- 6:15 PM Drops # 3
- 7:00 PM Me and my husband went out for dinner to Rosas Cafe!!! I ordered the fiesta chicken salad with only lettuce, tomatoe, and chicken meat. Then I added onions and salsa as my dressing, It was delicious and filled me up entirely. I also had their regular tea. I also had 2 garlic melba toasts. Tea makes a great filler. *TIP- right before your meal drink an entire large glass of water or tea to fill up faster.*
- 10:40 PM 1/2 grapefruit
Tonight I spent time preparing some meals for the weekend. I made a hamburger patty with 96/4 lean ground beef (weigh your meat 3.5 oz) While the meat was cooking I seasoned it then added a dash of soy sauce to keep the meat moist. I added some small whole mushrooms! I also steamed some asparagus in the microwave to get it soft, then pan cooked in on low heat with seasonings. YUM! Can't wait to eat that tomorrow for lunch!
I also made lean ground beef ground up so I can make lettuce wrap tacos later on in the week with salsa. The last thing I made was chicken in a pan. I decided to try grilling it with mustard on top for moistness and flavor. I'll let you know how that one turns out! It feels really nice to already have several meal options planned out especially over the weekend so I can grab out the right portion size (already measured and divided) and not have to think about it. PLAN PLAN PLAN!!! I can't stress that enough. Also try to get creative with your cooking.
For a little treat tonight I bought a bag of sonic ice and sqeuuzed lime juice on it, then ate it with a spoon. It keeps your mouth chomping (the illusion your eating) and it's a pretty nice treat.
Calorie Counter for the Day
- grilled chicken - 108 calories
- asparagus - 40 calories
- 1/2 grapefruit - 60 calories
- 2 saltine crackers - 30 calories

- tomatoe - 10 calories
- onion - 10 calories

Day 4: Easy as Pie! (still wish I could have some though)
Wednesday, January 20, 2010
Day 3- Time to Lose!
Today is day 3 on my HCG diet. Day 3 is the first day of eating the 500 calorie meal plan. No more loading and splurging, it's time to get down to business.
***Before I begin to describe my day, I need to make a correction on one of my earlier posts. When making the cabbage soup, DO NOT use the beef bouillon cube. I did not realize that it had so much BAD stuff in it. Sugar, MSG, oils, all but NO NO's. Instead use organic chicken stock for broth flavor.
My starting weight this morning was 141 lbs, so I am pretty much exactly where I started on Day 1 before loading. Not bad!
My Food
9:00 AM - 10 HCG drops under the tongue
9:40 AM - 2 Starbucks VIA instant coffee packets with 16 oz. hot water and 1 stevia packet (Breakfast) At this time I also took my vitamins: magnesium, potassium, and B12
11:45 AM - 6 Strawberries cut up (my mid morning snack) I tried to spread all my meals and snacks about 2 hours apart
1:00 PM - Round 2 of HCG drops
3:00 PM- Lunch, 3.5 oz grilled chicken breast, lettuce to wrap the chicken, 1 cup cabbage soup, 2 melba toast rounds garlic flavor, 1 apple (snack)
7:35 PM - Round 3 of HCG drops
8:15 PM - Dinner time! steamed broccoli and onions in part water and a little low sodium soy sauce, then I added 3.5 oz. of baby shrimp. 2 garlic melba toast rounds
I felt very full after dinner, I felt like I ate quite a bit. When I counted my calories I actually came up about 100 short, if this happens use vegetables, they make a good filler. I think I am going to have some raw cauliflower to fill the calorie void. Today I consumed 84.5 oz of water which is great. I need to have at least 70 oz a day. Today I was in a size 8 pant, YEAH!!! Hopefully I will be down to at least a 6 by the end of this process. Remember to take B12 anytime you feel like you don't have energy. I felt pretty energetic all day and pretty full as well. I really enjoyed my lunch! I'm thinking of having lean ground beef patty tomorrow with mustard, YUM!
I encourage anyone who decides to do the HCG diet to keep a very detalied journal about how you feel throughout the whole experience. I am very glad I decided to do a blog because it keeps me accountable, keeps me on track, and I can look back at any time for ideas, recipes, and what foods worked better for my body to lose weight.
I will leave you with this quote about weight loss....
"If you always do what you've always done, then you'll always get what you've always got!"
Get out there and make a change in your body and health today!!!

Day 2- The Last Supper
- 9:52 AM round 1 of drops (I didn't get up early enough for breakfast today)
- 11:00 AM Taco Tuesday at Rosas with my dad. I had 1 crispy beef taco, 1 chicken fajita burrito with queso, rice, beans, and 1 tortilla with honey, and my coveted DIET COKE!!
- 12:00 PM I took my 2nd round of drops, I took them 30 mins after my meal this time which is also acceptable
- 3:00 Starbucks snack attack... Venti caramel macchiato, 3 mini sparkle doughnuts (I feel like I am breaking every rule in my dieting moral code... HELP!) I also purchased the Starbucks VIA coffee packets which will be great during my 23 days because they are coffee on the go, just mix with warm (or cold) water and wa-la!
- 7:45 last of my drops for the night
- 8:15 PM Schlotzky's small origional sandwich, sour cream and onion chips, large Dr. Pepper (by this point it is becoming hard for me to allow myself to eat all this "bad" stuff when I want to lose weight, but loading is SOOOO important so make sure you really do it. While at Schlotzky's, why not also purchase a Cinnabon Cinnamon Roll for later. This thing is HUGE and has well over 1200 calories. I am eating it as I type, but I won't be able to finish it.
- 10:00 PM 1 glass of champagne, chowing on my cinnamon roll, and a large glass of milk. Goodbye 2% milk, you will be missed.
When I arrived home, it was time to prep my lunch for tomorrow. If you're anything like me, you sleep until the last possible moment, then are in a rush to get out the door for work. I have my entire lunch and 2 fruit snacks ready to go stacked up in the fridge so all I have to do is grab and go! This way there is no questions about what's for lunch.
I had 7 oz. of chicken breast so I placed that in a pan with a small amount of water in the bottom and turned the heat on medium. I sprinkled heavily with pepper, then added salt, garlic salt, and onion powder. I flipped the chicken several times and seasoned both sides. Add more water when all the water evaporates and cooks off. Toward the end I poured a small amount of balsamic vinegar on the chicken to moisten it. Then I cut it into small pieces for a lettuce wrap tomorrow. I was shocked at how much 3.5 oz looked. I sepereated the 7 oz. of meat into 2 pyrex bowls so I now have a protein put away for another meal. I can not stress to you how important planning ahead will be for you and how much easier it will make your life. I sampled my cooked chicken and it was tasty. It was not bland, but had good flavor. (You could use a dipping sauce if you like such as soy sauce, mustard, or salsa!) I recomend that everyone should buy a food scale to measure your proteins and vegetables. I got mine at Wal-Mart, nothing fancy for about $9!
On a side note, I am missing the gym already. I love to go to classes at the gym... power, step, stuff like that. You are not supposed to work out on the HCG diet because you are already burning more calories than you are consuming. I will be anxious to get back to Bodyworks at the end of my 23 day diet.
I went to the grocery store tonight to get food for the week. I will be able to cook all of the meals for the next 5 days and then some with everything that I bought. The great part about it is that I only spent $29 and got all healthy foods. Have you ever been able to eat for a week on $29??? Think of how great you will look and how much money you will save! BONUS!!! Here's what I got...
- 2 grapefruit (on the diet 1 serving is 1/2 the grapefruit)
- package broccoli
- package cauliflower
- asparagus bunch
- 96/4 lean ground beef
- frozen baby shrimp (enough for several servings)
- low sodium soy sauce (get this kind or organic)
- Mrs. Dash's lemon pepper seasoning
- 1 green bell pepper
- 2 lemons
- 4 limes
- melba toast garlic rounds (you can have 2 of the rounds with lunch and dinner, 25 calories)

oranges
grapefruit
VEGETABLES:
lettuce, spinach, tomatoes, celery, broccoli, cauliflower, cucumber, asparagus, cabbage, zucchini, chard, onion, mushroom, radishes, peppers (red and green)
Melba toast
Tea and Coffee

4) Shrimp and asparagus
5) Scallops with organic soy sauce
6) Chicken, broccoli and onion in organic soy sauce
7) Chicken breast wrapped in a lettuce tortilla with salsa
8) Flatten a chicken breast and place onions and peppers in the middle then fold chicken over veggies and bake in oven
These sound pretty good to me!
Day 1- January 18, 2010
Day 1 & 2 on the HCG diet are called "Loading Days." On these 2 days you will start taking 10 HCG drops under your tongue 3 times a day to start introducing the hormone into your body. On these 2 days it is very important to eat a lot of food and to take in calories so that your body will have plenty of stored calories. I have been told to take full advantage of this time because the more advantage you take of your "loading" days, the less hungry you will be while your body adjusts to eating less food. I also take these 2 days to consume some of my favorite foods, sort of like a "see you soon" to your favorite craving foods.
Also on day one it is very important to record not only your starting weight, but also your measurements. It is a great idea to measure yourself once a week because even on days where you don't lose on the scale, you will have great results in inches lost. and you know what that means... GOING DOWN IN CLOTHES SIZE!!! I also feel like it is very important on these days to make a grocery list and a weekly meal plan. I've always been told, "IF YOU FAIL TO PLAN, YOU PLAN TO FAIL." For me the biggest key to weight loss success is planning. Plan out meal options, and variety or you might suffer eating boredom. Be creative with your meals and the whole process will be quite painless.
I prepared a vegetable soup in bulk to have in my fridge that I can use as my vegetable serving, and I also made homemade salsa for the week to use as a dipping sauce and salad topper. If I am ever in a hurry, I already have meal options ready to go, so there's no excuses to cheat or fail.
Cabbage Soup
1 package shredded cabbage 100 calories
3 green onions chopped 10 calories
3 celery stalks chopped 10 calories
1/2 onion, I left it in larger chunks 10 calories
1 beef bouillon cube 30 caolries
water
Bring to a boil, reduce heat and cover. Add salt, pepper, onion powder, garlic salt, and any other seasoning you want as long as it has no sugar, calories, or MSG
The soup has a total of 160 calories, but it made a HUGE pot that I will be able to divide into about 18 servings.
Salsa
2 large tomatoes
2 jalapenos
(I put these 4 ingredients on the grill to soften)
chopped onion
seasoning
Put everything in a blender with a tiny bit of water and blend well.
My starting measurements/weight:
141 lbs
waist- 29 in., hips- 37 in., thigh- 22.5 in., stomach- 31.3 in., chest- 35.25 in., bicep- 11.5 in.
My first day on HCG went as follows: Day 1, Loading Day
9:42 AM- took my first set of HCG drops, I place 10 drops under my tongue and hold for 1 minute, this will tingle, that is normal
10:15 AM- Taco Villa french toast sticks (haven't had those in forever!!!) 1 hashbrown, Dr. Pepper
11:30 AM- Round 2 of HCG drops
12:00 PM- Lunch, homemade chicken pot pie, orange jello with cool-whip, one blueberry muffin, iced tea
5:00 PM- Last round of HCG drops for the day
5:30 PM- Dinner, pork tenderloin with BBQ sauce, mashed potatoes, green beans, 1 1/2 dinner rolls, iced tea, and apple cobbler for dessert
7:30 PM- Starbucks Grande Mocha
Now that's what I call a loading day!
There are a couple of key things you will need to get started and make the HCG diet easier for you.
1) Stevia sweetner, use this in your coffee, tea, to sweeten your fruit, etc...
2) B12 for energy, potassium, and magnesium vitamins daily
3) Seasonings that have 0 calories, no sugar or MSG, Mrs. Dash's makes a lot of good ones
4) Organic soy sauce, mustard, balsamic vinegar
5) Coffee and teas, I like Tazo Teas (available at the grocery store) or Starbucks makes a variety of teas hot and cold. Black tea is my favorite served on ice or hot with 1/2 stevia packet in it.
HCG Diet- My Journey on the 23 Day Trim HCG
My name is Holly Hunt and I want to share with you my 23 days on the Trim HCG diet. I have tried many different diets from the time I was 16 years old. I have tried silly fad diets like the lemon, syrup, cayenne pepper drink diet to crazy expensive diets like Metabolic Research where you spent hundreds of dollars on drink mixes, pills, and supplements, and the one thing I always notice is I always wanted to give up, and I never got the complete results I wanted. I have been doing Weight Watchers for the past 8 months, and I did lose some weight, but it seems like the last 15 pounds are impossible to lose. I have had many friends do the 23 Day Trim HCG Diet with AMAZING results. I am very excited to begin this journey and see results in just 23 days.
A little bit about me... I am 23 years old, I am pretty active, I work at a Kadiza Hair Studio so I am on my feet all day. I do a lot of walking around, and in the evenings I love going to the gym and taking classes. I eat pretty good for the most part, but I do have my days. I have a sweet tooth and working next to a Starbucks can be rough on a dieter. I started out at 155 pounds this last time I decided to lose weight. I have done weight watchers for about 8 months and have lost 14 pounds. It took me 8 MONTHS to lose just 14 POUNDS!!! That is slow progress, but progress none the less. I have worked extremely hard to try and shed the last 15-20 pounds with no luck. It's as though my body has reached it's limit, then I heard about HCG!
For the next 23 days I will be sharing with you my journey on the Trim HCG diet. I will be posting my starting weight, measurements, and my weekly progress. I will also be posting exactly what I eat, feel, think, my struggles and my success'. I hope you find this helpful and inspiring and I encourage you to take the HCG challenge and change your life for the better.
